All things Advent…
Unwrapping the Greatest Gift: A Family Celebration of Christmas by Ann Voskamp This book is beautiful inside and out. The pictures are beautiful and Ann’s words are a delight. There is a sing song rhythm to the words that remind me of a poem or a song. The book is broken down by the days in December starting with Day 1 through Christmas Day. Technically there are ornaments that go along with this book that you can create a Jesse tree. So this is not your conventional advent book, but perfect for children.
The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Full Love Story of Christmas by Ann Voskamp My sister in law gifted me this book many moons ago and I read it every year. This is the adult version of the book I just linked. The same idea about the Jesse tree, but in an even more beautifully scripted version. This book hits different every year depending on what season of life I am going through. Highly recommend.
Shadow and Light: A Journey into Advent by Tsh Oxenreider I came across this advent book after listening to a Don’t Mom Alone Podcast featuring this author. She did her job and I bought the book, ha! This book is more like a liturgy for each day of Advent giving you a scripture, a song, an art picture and a message. I love the message it brings about how this season starts out kind of dark and filled with shadows as we await the birth and coming of Jesus. As Christmas approaches the lights get brighter as more candles are lit. Another beautiful book and message to us all during this season to remember.
Sarah’s rebel advent wreath: Sarah has bought an untraditional advent wreath so to speak and displays it on her kitchen table. I have seen it in person and adore it. I have made my own advent wreath with simple candles. Truly, it doesn’t matter how you make it, but Sarah and I both love pretty things that also stir up joy and peace. This is one of those sparks of joy. The little houses are too cute, simple, and wintry giving all the vibes of the season.
Christmas Carols Calendar: I am having a fog brain moment and cannot remember if I purchased this or if Sarah gifted this to me. Either way, this is my favorite Christmas item I have sitting out besides my sentimental ornaments 😉 I love reading the words to 25 Christmas hymns. We sing them all the time and they can become old hat, but reading the words makes you truly see the meaning and intention. I discover something new every day. The art is beautiful as well. The artist is Little Things Studio, but I could not find this particular calendar on the actual website. They have other pretty things as well.
We hope you love Advent and Christmas as much as we do. I always tell my girls that it is truly magical in every way!
XO,
Kimberly
