Hump Day Happies 7.10.24

The summer reading edition for HDH. Let me preface and say that I am not a reader currently. I do enjoy a good book and will love to read one day. Sarah is good at listening to audio books and multitasking, but I haven’t joined that world either. The list of books recommended today are books we, either one or both of us, have read in the past and love. Enjoy!

The Worry Free Parent by Sissy Goff: This book is the ultimate guide to parenting but truly a self assessment and encouragement to us as parents and how we navigate the stress of parenting. She gives a scientific guide on what stress and anxiety do to the body as well as how it affects our soul. I wish I could have Sissy talking to me on a daily basis.

The Road Back To You by Ian Morgan Cron: A lovely book to introduce you to the Enneagram. We wrote two posts (here and here) about the enneagram and love how it gives us blueprints to ourselves and shows insight on giving grace to others.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah: One of the most captivating books I have ever read. Sarah and I both loved every minute of this book. Set in WWII era if you like that time frame. “The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France–a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit”

Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara: Sarah highly recommends this book. I have not read it, but will put it on my one day list 🙂 “This book of lessons about both service and leadership learned over a career in hospitality celebrates the one principle that will never go out of season: the human desire to be taken care of. In this behind-the-scenes peek at the world of fine dining, Guidara shows us how to find the magic in what we do — for ourselves, the people we work with, and the people we serve.”

Mark of the Lion Series by Francine Rivers: I have read these books at least 3 times through. Mainly in my high school and college years. A historical fiction novel series set in first century Rome. A beautiful story about a Jewish girl sold as a slave to a Roman household and the adventure takes off from there.

Thats all for today! Till next time.

XO,

Kimberly
